U can’t miss AVATAR 3D! December 28, 2009

In 1994, director James Cameron wrote a 114-page scriptment for Avatar.[1] Cameron said his inspiration was “every single science fiction book I read as a kid”, and that he was particularly striving to update the style of Edgar Rice BurroughsJohn Carter series. In August 1996, Cameron announced that after completing Titanic, he would film Avatar, which would make use of “synthetic”, or computer-generated, actors.[16] The project would cost $100 million and involve at least six actors in leading roles “who appear to be real but do not exist in the physical world”.[17] Visual effects house Digital Domain, with whom Cameron has a partnership, joined the project, which was supposed to begin production in the summer of 1997 for a 1999 release.[18]

In June 2005, Cameron was announced to be working on a project tentatively titled “Project 880“, concurrently with another project, Battle Angel.[19] By December, Cameron said that he planned to film Battle Angel first for a summer 2007 release, and to film Project 880 for a 2009 release.[20] In February 2006, Cameron said he had switched goals for the two film projects – Project 880 was now scheduled for 2007 and Battle Angel for 2009. He indicated that the release of Project 880 would possibly be delayed until 2008.[21] Later that February, Cameron revealed that Project 880 was “a retooled version of Avatar“, a film that he had tried to make years earlier,[22] citing the technological advances in the creation of the computer-generated characters Gollum, King Kong and Davy Jones.[1] Cameron had chosen Avatar over Battle Angel after completing a five-day camera test in the previous year.[23]

Cameron’s early scriptment for Avatar had circulated on the Internet for years. When the project was re-announced, copies were subsequently removed from websites.[24] From January to April 2006, Cameron worked on the script. Working with Dr. Paul Frommer, linguist and Director of the Center for Management Communication at USC, he developed a Na’vi language and culture, the indigenous race on Pandora.[1] The language has a vocabulary of about 1000 words, with some 30 having been invented by Cameron. The tongue’s phonemes include ejective consonants (such as the “kx” in “skxawng”) that are found in the Amharic language of Ethiopia, and the initial “ng” that Cameron may have taken from New Zealand Māori.[25]

In June 2006, Cameron said that if Avatar was successful, he hoped to make two sequels to the film.[26] In a 2009 interview, he stated that the story arc he developed is large enough to cover two more films.[27]

Themes and inspirations

“I have an absolute reverence for men who have a sense of duty, courage, but I’m also a child of the ’60s. There’s a part of me who wants to put a daisy in the end of the gun barrel. I believe in peace through superior firepower, but on the other hand I abhor the abuse of power and creeping imperialism disguised as patriotism. Some of these things you can’t raise without being called unpatriotic, but I think it’s very patriotic to question a system that needs to be corralled, or it becomes Rome.”
—James Cameron on the film’s theme [37]

Avatar is centered around the themes of imperialism and biodiversity.[38] Cameron has said that Avatar shares themes with At Play in the Fields of the Lord, and The Emerald Forest, which feature clashes between cultures and civilizations, and acknowledged the film’s connection with Dances With Wolves, where a battered soldier finds himself drawn to the tribal culture he was initially fighting against.[39]

In a 2007 interview with Time magazine, Cameron addressed the meaning of the film’s title, answering the question “What is an avatar, anyway?” Cameron stated, “It’s an incarnation of one of the Hindu gods taking a flesh form.” He said that “[i]n this film what that means is that the human technology in the future is capable of injecting a human’s intelligence into a remotely located body, a biological body”. Cameron stated, “It’s not an avatar in the sense of just existing as ones and zeroes in cyberspace. It’s actually a physical body.”[40]

Another 2 secrets to infinitely good skin December 27, 2009

From a personal viewpoint, if you suffer from gastric, frequent indigestion or generally have a weak stomach, you probably have:

1. frequent acnes

2. dull complexion

3. saggy skin

4. open pores

One should immediately consult the doctor for prescribed medication inview of strengthening the weak stomach. The facial skin will be brightened in 3-7 days. Acnes or even scars will also subside as the stomach grows stronger. So, be healthy and your skin will glow like hers:

BB creams [ half skincare half cosmetic cream] could be applied to protect the skin as well as to conceal flaws. Below are some of my recommendations of BB creams with good oil control ( google Kimoko BB cream blog if you want to know more, she is QUEEN of BB creams or simply click on http://kimoko.livejournal.com )

1. BRTC Whitening and anti wrinkle BB cream [ for fair skin ]

2. BRTC Jasmine BB Cream [ for fair skin ]

3. Dr. JArt Black Label [ for medium toned skin]

4. Innisfree Trouble care BB Cream [ not for tea tree sensitive users ]

5. Skinfood range of BB cream [ also highly raved, have not tried]

Kimiko the BB cream queen purchses from Ling’s blogshop which I think is relatively cheaper than buying the items from stores:

Il Mare (Hangul: 시월애; RR: Siworae) is a 2000 South Korean film, starring Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Jung-jae. The title, Il Mare, means ‘The Sea’ in Italian, and is the name of the seaside house which is the setting of the story. The Korean title, siworae is the Korean pronunciation of Chinese characters “時越愛,” which means “time-transcending love.” The two protagonists both live there two years apart in time, but are able to communicate through a mysterious post box.

The film was remade by Warner Brothers starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves and released in 2006 as The Lake House, which was co-produced by Sonny Mallhi, Amit Walia, and Chris Krapek.-wiki

Plot summary

According to the most popular interpretations of the film, there are two distinct timelines intertwined throughout most of the film. These two timelines are torn away from each other at the end of the film, causing the “bittersweet” nature of the ending.

The story begins with Eun-joo moving out of a house by the sea called “Il Mare”. As she is leaving, she leaves a Christmas card in the mailbox, asking the next resident to please forward her mail to her. Sung-hyun, an architectural student, receives her card, but is puzzled, since he is the first resident at “Il Mare” and the card is dated 2 years in the future. After a series of back and forth correspondences, Eun-joo and Sung-hyun realize they are living 2 years apart, Eun-joo in the year 2000 and Sung-hyun in the year 1998. After some testing, Eun-joo and Sung-hyun discover that the mailbox at “Il Mare” is enabling their communication and they can pass objects through it.

Utilizing the mailbox, Eun-joo asks Sung-hyun to retrieve a tape player she lost two years ago, which he gets for her. After his father, a noted architect, dies, Sung-hyun asks Eun-joo to buy a book about his father, which she does. They decide to try a date together, with each person participating in his or her own time. Eun-joo “takes” Sung-hyun to an amusement park, where he follows her instructions on how to have a good time at the park. Sung-hyun “takes” her to a restaurant where she drinks a bottle of wine he left for her two years ago. Despite having a lot of fun on these “dates”, they decide that they should try to meet in person.

Eun-joo and Sung-hyun plan on meeting in person at a beach where she has always wanted to build a house, two years in Sung-hyun’s future. However, when Eun-joo goes to the beach, Sung-hyun doesn’t show. She does see a house being built on the beach for an unknown architect’s lover. When Eun-joo tells Sung-hyun that he didn’t come, he is baffled about why he didn’t show up; he doesn’t think he would have forgotten such an important date.

At Eun-joo’s work, she runs into her ex-fiance. They were going to get married, but he moved abroad for work, while she stayed in Korea. Due to the separation, they eventually broke up and he married another person; however, Eun-joo still loves him. This meeting shocks Eun-joo and in an act of desperation, she asks Sung-hyun to intervene and stop her fiance from leaving two years in the past. After sending the letter to Sung-hyun, Eun-joo suddenly realizes, on that day, she witnessed a car striking a pedestrian and killing him. Eun-joo rushes to Sung-hyun’s architectural school and finds out that Sung-hyun was that pedestrian and the house being built at the beach was designed by Sung-hyun for her. She immediately rushes to the mailbox and sends a letter telling him not to go.

The final scene returns to the beginning of the movie, where Eun-joo is about to place her Christmas card into the mailbox at “Il Mare”. A stranger approaches her with a letter in his hand, the letter that Eun-joo sent warning Sung-hyun not to go to the meeting. Sung-hyun did receive her warning letter and never went to intervene that day and was never hit by the car. Although this Eun-joo (the one who twice ignores him at the train station) has no memory of the correspondence, Eun-joo and Sung-hyun finally meet.-wiki
